Teapot Trust is a charity that provides art therapy in hospitals and the community to support the wellbeing of children and young people living with chronic conditions – and their families. We help children and young people to express their emotions, overcome challenges linked to their condition and develop healthy coping mechanisms so that they are not defined by their illness. Through our art therapy we bring colour to young lives.

Due to Covid-19 we had to pause our face-to-face services and respond quickly to ensure that we could still provide much-needed support in these challenging times. We quickly and safely adapted our one-to-one art therapy service to be available through online video calls. We are now in the process of developing small, online art therapy groups, providing tiers of support tailored to individual needs. The charity is also looking to pilot self-referrals for one-to-one and family art therapy online.

In addition to online art therapy, we have created a resource hub on our website that includes video and worksheet activities developed by some of our art therapists. The aim is to support children and young people whose anxiety may have increased with the current pandemic, and to provide a fun and positive escape through art activities. These are activities which we hope all families can benefit from and enjoy:

We hope that you’ll join us for our Facebook Watch Party on Monday 18 May at 12.30pm. We'll be telling you a little bit more about our work and how all families can benefit from our online resources. There’s even an art competition for families to take part in over the course of the week with a prize to be won – details will be announced at the event.
