Let’s Celebrate!  Wandsworth Arts Festival Fringe in All Saints Church, Tooting

The Arts Festival at All Saints Church, Brudenell Road, Tooting (SW17 8DQ) celebrates the diversity of our wonderful part of Wandsworth.  It contains the Senior Street Sextet jazz concert (June 24^th 7.30pm), a celebration of The sensual and mysterious, secret world of the harpsichord with Pawel Siwczak (June 11^th 3pm) and a community choir singing Midsummer Melodies with Katie Rose (June 22^nd 7.30pm).  There is a celebration of the dazzling range of keyboards instruments in the church (Emma Howarth, Pawel Siwczak, Simon Gutteridge (June 20^th 7.30pm) – five in all, including a chamber organ, a Yamaha grand piano, a fortepiano, a chamber organ and a Grade II listed Harrison organ. The medieval mystic, Hildegard of Bingen, will be explored in a one-woman performance by the Rev Prof June Boyce-Tillman (June 19^th 7.30pm).  As part of the Big Green week local storytellers June are telling Luscious Stories of Abundance with Alison Royce, June Peters and June Boyce-Tillman. We are also exploring a new idea – Sounds of Sanctuary (June 24th 10am) with Susanne Schuele and June Boyce-Tillman– which is a Saturday morning event where people will be able to lie or sit comfortably in the beautiful Lady Chapel. They will be surrounded by various percussion sounds and melodies on the Baroque oboe and enter a contemplative meditative atmosphere. The Community Concert (June 17^th 6-8pm) includes an extraordinary variety of ages, ethnicities, dis/abilities, instruments, experiences - choirs, soloists, ensembles of instruments and singers and the audience will also be asked to join in the singing and the stories.  The church acoustics are outstanding – used regularly in 1980s for orchestral recordings.  We have some sounds for everyone – familiar and less familiar.  Do come and join us for a generous feast of musical sounds!
