APCCA is on a mission to promote creativity, mental health, and wellbeing through various projects, initiatives, and workshops.
We are passionate about training and development of practitioners and of spreading our knowledge, skills and understanding of the person-centred approach to creative arts through our courses and workshops.
We are also dedicated to supporting practitioners and to promoting the amazing work that they do!
Bringing the Person Centred Approach to the Therapeutic use of Creative Arts
Person Centred Creative Arts practice is the creation of art using any creative medium, where both the method and the finished art work or expression is free from any judgement, assessment or external interpretation. Creating art can be incredibly therapeutic and healing in itself.
The person-centred approach was developed by Carl Rogers. It is based on the belief that therapy is most effective when the therapist provides certain conditions, such as empathy and unconditional positive regard.
When the person-centred therapeutic approach of Carl Rogers is brought together with art making as complementary processes, it becomes a very powerful, yet gentle therapeutic approach.
