The Friends of Moyse’s Hall Museum are delighted to welcome acclaimed author and historian, Professor Vic Gatrell, to Moyse’s Hall Museum to present a talk about his latest book “Conspiracy on Cato Street”.

In 1820, a plot to assassinate the British Cabinet, the most audacious attempt on the Government since the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 took place.

Professor Gatrell will discuss the political, social and economic context of the age as well as the fascinating backgrounds of the multi-ethnic conspirators and the justice meted out by the state after the plot’s discovery.

“Conspiracy on Cato Street” is one of the six shortlisted for the Duff Cooper prize for best non-fiction in UK and France 2022.
