Frogs and Flowers

The artistic process of creating Surface Pattern I find very therapeutic. This pattern is called 'Frogs and Flowers' as part of a wider collection named 'Down By the Potting Shed'. As a suburban dweller I appreciate both the green spaces in towns and  commercial aesthetics found in the urban. Before designing I love to he(art) map, creatively writing about the inspiration behind my art. Please find this below, romanticising a resonation with nature and the imagined geography of a garden scene, incorporating my own childhood sensory experiences of this.

''A frogs reflection shimmers in a raindrop studded cobweb, bridging brick and rotten wood; attached to the curling fern as the amphibian climbs out of a crevasse. Fragrant Lavender and Rosemary align peacefully in snail trailed terracotta. Corners brightened by Forget Me Nots, which sing nostalgia of the days down by the potting shed.''

The excitement of viewing nature through a child's eyes never grew old for me, this translates onto paper through a naïve and vibrant style, capturing the simplicity of hand drawn observations. Using traditional, mixed media techniques, I digitalise illustrations for greetings cards and fabric.
