New Note Projects

New Note Projects is an award-winning, Brighton-based charity that empowers people affected by addiction, homelessness, and mental health challenges through transformative music, storytelling, and dance. By fostering creativity and community, we help participants build confidence, forge supportive networks, overcome isolation and discover new pathways to recovery.

Launched in 2015, the New Note Orchestra is the world’s first orchestra specifically designed to support people in addiction recovery by providing a safe, creative space. Since then, we’ve expanded our offerings to include the guitar group New Note Strummers, the expressive New Note Dance programme, and New Note Key Changers—an innovative training initiative that develops our musicians into community music leaders. All our projects are open to everyone, regardless of musical ability.
