Newcastle Singing for Lung Health is a new singing programme designed for people with long-term respiratory and lung conditions across Newcastle.
Join us for weekly singing sessions, led by a trained facilitator. We’ll practise simple and fun vocal exercises and sing together.
Singing together in a group is a great way to improve physical health and emotional wellbeing; it has been proven to have benefits such as relieving stress, anxiety and strengthening our immune systems.
This group is for you if you want to:
- improve respiratory strength
- learn ways to manage symptoms of breathlessness
- feel part of a community and meet new people
-have fun in a supportive and friendly environment
All voices and singing abilities are welcome, no previous experience needed. The first block of sessions will run weekly for 12weeks.
How to sign up
Register using our online form: Singing for Lung Health - Registration form – Fill in form
Once you’ve registered, we’ll invite you to a taster session; if you like it, we can sign you up for the Newcastle Singing for Lung Health programme.
We encourage you come to as many of the 12week sessions as you can to feel the benefit, but there is no obligation to attend them all.
These sessions are aimed at individuals with respiratory and lung conditions, and anyone who feels they would benefit from singing for lung health sessions.
If you’d like to chat about the sessions before signing up, please contact Charlie at nuth.artsprogramme@nhs.net
Newcastle Singing for Lung Health is an initiative by Newcastle Hospitals Charity Arts Programme, the sessions are led by local singer-songwriter, Liz Corney, who is a trained Singing for Lung Health practitioner.
