Phoenix Plates on display at the Roots Cafe

Phoenix Project members spent one of their Friday afternoon creative sessions observing and drawing vegetables including; pak choi, chard and cross sections of tomatoes, beetroot and peppers. Colour was added to the drawings and the finished images were reproduced and used as decorative elements for making these colourful, patterned plate designs. The plates are now on display on the walls of the Roots Cafe - a community cafe run by Ipswich Community Media in central Ipswich.

Materials: plates from Emmaus, tissue paper, Posca pens, photocopied vegetable drawings, magazine images, Mod Podge (dishwasher safe sealant).

The Phoenix Project is an independent, Ipswich based mental health charity. It’s been working with adults to support mental wellbeing since 2009 and offers a welcoming social community, weekly hot meals and artist-led creative sessions.
