Description

The Creative Space is a year-round programme of creative workshops based in a spacious, dedicated art room. It was developed by Arlington and SPACE and is now in its eighth year. The residents use the studio to develop their own work as well as engaging with artist-led projects.

Over 200 people have come to The Creative Space workshops from Arlington and Camden Pathway hostels. Some continue after they have gone on to permanent accommodation. The programme now focuses on three permanent classes in art, music class and a journalism workshop where residents are invited to create a ‘magazine’. The fourth is a series of temporary ‘pop-up’ workshops in fashion and textiles, screen printing, crafts, photography, graffiti art, story board and graphic novel design. Each year the programme puts on an exhibition of the work made in the studio and takes part in many other projects, including disused space in Camden and inclusion at the House of Fun weekender sponsored by Madness.
