Event Details

Join us in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse for an evening of lively discussion and performance exploring the impact of culture and Shakespeare on health and wellbeing, hosted by Globe Artistic Director Michelle Terry.

Continuing the exciting collaboration between Shakespeare’s Globe and the World Health Organisation (WHO), the evening includes a keynote performance by Christopher Bailey (Arts & Health Lead, WHO) looking at the Shakespeare canon, Elizabethan society, and the neurological roots of theatre.

This is followed by a panel discussion moderated by Terry, with Bailey, Professor Daisy Fancourt (Professor of Psychobiology & Epidemiology at University College London and Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre on Arts & Health), Amanda Faber (CEO, Soldiers’ Arts Academy) and Darren Raymond (Artistic Director, Intermission Youth).

Be part of the conversation as we explore the preventative and curative power of culture; discuss scientific evidence, personal experiences and hopes for the future of arts engagement; and its proven potential to change all lives for the better.
