Natural Art Workshops for Better Mental Health and Resilience

I’m Pat, a Wildlife Artist, Illustrator, Wildlife Photographer, Forest School Leader and Outdoor Educator. Nature inspires me to create and outdoors in wild spaces is my happy place. Over 7 years, in outdoor learning, I’ve been inspiring children of all ages, from 3-16 years with workshops that help individuals, schools, families and local communities connect with nature and spend time being mindful creating, which is good for our well-being and mental health. When we make something that we are proud of, this also gives us confidence, hope and improves our self-esteem.
I would like to share an event creating natural art with community groups and families using leaf printing. We will be using leaves, to create art. Leaves are a symbol of growth, are discarded by trees during Autumn in preparation to survive hard times in Winter. We can take these symbols of hope and create beauty, or we can take these discarded items and create beautiful art using three different techniques (wax crayons, clay, and gel pad and paint). At the end of the session, we can share our thoughts on how we feel, after we have created. This will show an improvement on our mental health. Workshops can be 2 hours long and for 12 people, working in pairs. The small groups means that anyone with additional needs can be helped and supported throughout the session. All art created can be taken home.
I always get the best feedback:
“Absolutely LOVED the natural art printing workshop! As great for adults as it is for children.”
“Really enjoyed the printing workshop – therapeutic and fun for all ages! Inspired us to continue experimenting at home… Thank you!”
“A fabulous printing session, with plenty of inspiration from nature. Definitely would do it again. Thank you.”
“A lovely morning learning a new art craft. I could have spent all day being creative. Very friendly leader and so enthusiastic. Thank you so much.”
