Writing for Wellbeing and Personal Development workshops for healthcare staff,those receiving care and the public

I’m a writer, poet, former NHS Consultant Physician, Portfolio Medical Educator teaching medical students and Health & Social Care Students in the UK with a passion for Arts in Health and Health Humanities in the education and development of healthcare staff.

I also trained on the MA Creative Writing & Personal Development, Sussex University in 2003-5,and I am a Writing for Wellbeing & Personal Development Facilitator, via my small business Storied Selves, http://storiedselves.com/, which I set up in October 2020.

Through this I offering monthly themed Writing for Wellbeing Workshops for the Community, open to members of the public aged 18 and over, for those in healthcare-related fields, including clinicians, academic researchers and educators, as well as healthcare students, and with patients in healthcare settings, and those receiving care in social and community settings.

I am delighted to have been recruited as one of the CW+ Charity Arts in Health Writers -in -Residence Arts Practioners at Chelsea & Westminster NHS Trusts, and will be working with patients 1:1 at the bedside and in small groups, as well as with staff.

I am proud to have been independently commissioned by NHS GP Training Hubs in East Sussex, NHS Bromley, as well as the East of England Foundation School (Health Education England) to design bespoke writing workshops for staff and trainees, as well as for Staff Creativity & Wellbeing Week at the Royal Marsden Hospital NHS Trust.

I use a bespoke combination of creative, expressive and reflective writing prompts and techniques, as well. as journaling, poetry therapy aspects and multimedia resources, to inspire others to explore their creativity, experiences ,sense of self and community, through enjoyable writing exercises, sharing and discussion in small groups.
